It means a lot, because family photography is at the heart of what I do, whether that's a newborn's first portraits, a growing bump, or the whole family together on a sunny Perth afternoon.

Studio or outdoor family photos?
Studio family sessions take place in my studio in Leeming, in Perth's southern suburbs. The studio is warm, private and weather-proof, which makes it ideal for families with babies and toddlers, winter sessions, or anyone who wants clean, timeless portraits.
Outdoor family sessions happen at one of Perth's beautiful natural locations. My favourites are local beaches, bushland and spots along the Swan and Canning rivers, where the light is soft and there's plenty of room for kids to run, play and be themselves. If you have a special place in mind, I'm happy to shoot there too.

What to wear for family photos
- Coordinate, don't match. Choose two or three colours that work together, like soft neutrals, dusty blues or warm earthy tones, rather than identical outfits.
- Avoid big logos and busy prints. They draw attention away from faces.
- Think about texture. Knits, linen and flowing dresses photograph beautifully.
- Dress for comfort. Happy, comfortable kids make the best photos.
The best time for outdoor family photos in Perth
The hour before sunset, often called golden hour, gives the softest, most flattering light. In Perth's summer that can be quite late in the evening, so for younger children we sometimes choose an early morning session instead. Studio sessions can be booked at any time that suits your family's routine.
Keeping little ones happy
You don't need well-behaved kids for great family photos. I keep sessions playful and unhurried, guide you through natural poses, and build in breaks for snacks and cuddles. Some of my favourite images come from the in-between moments: a tickle, a laugh, a big sibling kissing a new baby.
